This is the port that has been on her. It works better for everyday use, but the edges being flush against the wound was causing Abby a great deal of pain. Janna Walters suggested a different tube temporarily and it was a great idea.

Here is the new tube. We will use it until her skin heals.
From Brent: Michelle does such a wonderful job caring for Abby's medical needs. We all help, but most of the credit has to go to her for being attentive to every single detail. Abby is very blessed that God gave her to Michelle knowing this time would come.

poor baby! I am glad that the temp. tube will help!
Good nite again, from the West coast. I peeked in to check my email and re-read a few of your posts. I clicked onto these pics of poor Abby's tummy. Boy..it hurts to look at her sore little body..but even so, it causes my heart to pray harder for her and her amazing parents. I pray the gel stuff helps..between the tape and her tummy. I pray for the infection to heal and the redness and soreness to go away. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Dear Abby,
You are such a Brave little girl. We are sending lots of Prayers for you Honey.

The poor thing. My son had a gtube for 7 years. We would cut a square of gauze and stick it under it when it would start oozing stomach fluid and affecting his skin. ALso lots of anitbacterial/vasiline type products. Of course, he wasn't going through what Abby is, but I can surely relate to all you go through.
Prayers for all of you.

Under the assumption that the white piece of material over something is her port ... that is very similar looking to the special dressing they used over my picc line when I was allergic to the tegaderm.
Another idea is that since Abby is on Antibiotics .. that her feeding tube *and port even too* might be festering (what a bad word) with Yeast (Candida). She may need an antifungal.
Hope this helps.
Brent and Michelle,
I'm an old ICU nurse, and most of what I know is outdated, but years ago we used Milk of Magnesia followed by a heat lamp to heal bedsores. I know there's newer stuff out there--but if the new stuff isn't helping, maybe an old idea will! God bless you and sweet Abby.

Duoderm or stomahesive paste or both (paste around the tube first then cover with duoderm) will help this. Also, ask for a stoma nurse to see her, they may want some antifungal powder as well.
