Trying To Be Brave

Praise God, Abby's pain is improving and the sores are looking a little better.

Abby's bone marrow is beginning to recover from the last round of chemo. This is very good news, because it means her body will begin to heal the sores.

She is still running a temperature (103 last night). She has been on up to 4 antibiotics during the last week, so the had really expected her to not be running a fever by now. Her doctor ordered a C.A.T. scan to try to determine what is causing the fevers.

We truly appreciate every comment and email that you all have written. We always love reading them, but when things get really tough, they are a huge blessing to us. In the middle of the night, they are a wonderful reminder that we are not alone and that others are praying too. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and pray.

Abby tries so hard to be a good girl. She is smiling here, not because we asked her to and not because she felt like it, she just thinks that she is supposed too. The circles under her eyes tell how hard the last week has been on her, but she is still fighting hard.

Please say an extra prayer for her today. C.A.T. scans can be a little scary when you are 3 years old. I am also praying for wisdom for her doctors as they decide what to do next.

You have been in our prayers, constantly. My co-worker and I prayed together a couple of days ago in his cubicle (after I read the previous entry). Blessings and peace to you. We love you. Jason Burnfield

I am so glad some things are at least improving so maybe she can feel a little better and her body can heal some. She is a strong little girl and you are both amazing parents.

Praying for your family and for Abby to heal. I remember mouth sores that went from end to end during my Chemo treatment. Try giving her icepops, it helped a little for me, and the vitamin c is good for helping fight off that stubborn infection.
Just keep telling yourself, years from now Abby will not remember all of this.
Hugs to you,
Nikki

Michelle,
I am constantly at the end of my rope lately. I am at a loss for words. Sometimes I don't even know what to pray anymore. God knows I am a mess and your family has been on my heart so much even though we have never met. It's amazing to me how God orchestrates meetings and raises people up to pray you through your valleys.
My heart is already so heavy and I can't pretend to see the "silver lining" around this dark cloud hovering over your sweet Abby. I just have to keep clinging to HOPE that no matter WHAT- God loves that tiny little girl with an everlasting love that is PERFECT and so amazing I can't even comprehend it. His plans for her really ARE good, even when I really don't think they look so great. I have often just cried to God and then I realized that my crying across the U.S. isn't doing Abby a bit of good. So I will fight with you, for Abby......and even when my words run out and my flesh despairs......I will pray in the Spirit for Abby to be comforted by the arms of her Heavenly Papa and for her to be made well and whole. I pray also for you to have the strength to get through each minute. May He continue to give you endurance to run the race. I pray that with each prayer offered on your behalf, you will feel the arms of those who love the Lord and trust Him for your daughter's healing. Maybe in a little way, we can hobble along with you and help you run this leg of the journey.
love,
holly

Briggs family,

We have not met but I was directed to your blog by another parent touched by cancer.

Please take a moment to visit and consider joining the People Against Childhood Cancer community. We are a network of over 900 parents, friends, family, concerned citizens and childhood cancer organizations (CureSearch, Alex's Lemonade Stand and more) whose sole mission is to present a unified voice to raise awareness of childhood cancer. The website format is unique, you can have friends, post photos and videos, blog, participate in Forum discussions, start or join Groups that interest you, chat live with other members, and promote or learn about fundraisers. It's free, interactive and will continue to evolve.

While these features are nice, our focus is action to raise awareness of childhood cancer. One initiative is the Petition to Raise Awareness of Childhood Cancer . It has over 16,000 signatures and will be used to hopefully leverage a network TV special solely on childhood cancer or a similar high profile project. Other ideas and action items are presented daily in our ongoing effort to raise awareness.

One of the many benefits of the PAC2 is to provide information and support to families.

Please visit and join us at http://curechildhoodcancer.ning.com.
