Abby Update... Laughter Lives Tuesday

Abby got blood last night. Believe it or not, they were able to leave about 4am and get back to Michelle's mother's house. The ice continues, so she'll be stuck there today, and I'm at home with the rest of the kids. THANK YOU for your prayers and concern.

The Funny Things Kids Do!

Last week's theme was funny stories about the funny things our kids do. I had a page limit to work with, and I couldn't find a few of the posts (if you put your name on our list, did you actually do a post?).

Below is the list of posts that made it in the book. Don't shoot me if yours didn't make it... there will be plenty of opportunity in the future. Check out "Funny Things Our Kids Do" here.

Many thanks to Candy for letting us put Kya Blu on the cover. They came over to visit last weekend and we experienced a few "funnies" right on the spot. Hope you enjoy the book.

Even more I hope you continue to participate in Laughter Lives Tuesday. Why? Because it's a stinkin' lot of fun, and I could use the laugh every week. How 'bout you? You can get the book here. .

LLaughter Livesaughter Lives Tuesday:
The Funny, Cute & Endearing Ways We Say 'I Love You'

This weeks theme is going to be both funny and sweet. I look forward to enjoying the posts you write, and also learning from them. We can always use more creative ways to say "I love you."

I Lub You Daddy

Abby, sweet little thing, will walk up to us out of the blue, hug your leg and say with great conviction, "I... lub... you... Daddy". When she says that, she is hugging your leg, laying her head on you, and it comes out like a great big sigh, as if she is very tired and now finally everything is okay. It is so sweet.

'Cause I'm a Stinky Little Kid

We have this thing with the two babies (Abby and Landis) where we hug them and say "I love you so much. I love you too much. Do you know why I love you too much?"

To this, they reply: "Because I'm a stinky little kid."

Don't ask me how or why this came about, I don't remember but it's what we do. Other people hear it and either think its funny, or sweet (or weird!).

Sign Language

My wife and I taught our kids sign language when they were a few months old to help them learn to communicate. They could say "please", "more" and other simple words even before they could speak. It was really cute, and helpful.

Michelle and I often respond "I love you more..." when the other says "I love you". Because we were teaching the kids sign language for "more", the "more" sign became our secret way to say "I love you" and it meant, "I love you more". We could say "I love you more" across the room, or driving away using our little sign.

That's right, I'm a sap. Don't tell any of my ex-Drill Sargeant buddies.

Okay, now it's YOUR turn.

Loving this blog carnival!

I'm going to have to borrow the "stinky little kid" comment. My three year old son spends as much time as possible outside and usually is not smellin' so fresh at the end of the day. LOL

I so hope that the blood transfusion will give Abby strength and make her feel better fast, she has been through way to much already for a baby, this breaks my heart. She is a strong little fighter, you can see that in her little face. Still holding on to that Jesus will heal her and make her a miracle to be a witness to others, He has a plan.

Just wanted to leave a note to let you know Abby has been in my prayers every day. I found your blog a couple of weeks ago, and check back often to see how things are going. I'll keep praying.

This was the first thing I checked when I woke up at 'O Dark Thirty this morning. Just checking in again and glad to hear that Abby was treated and released. I hope and pray that her days will start to improve.

Too cool to have a blog published in your book. I'm gonna have to let Seth know!

My partner and I used to say I love you, by saying, or writing 1 4 3. The number of letters in each of the words - I have an inscription on a necklace with it too.

My family's code word for "I Love You" is BATS. When my sibs were little, they had a saying where they would stretch their arms out as far as they could and say "Love you BIG AS THE SKY!" Big as the sky = BATS, so BATS became the code word. The kids are grown now but to this day when you go to their mom's (my stepmom's) house, there are bat decorations everywhere. Someday I'll register it as a trademark.

My 3 year old niece made an hysterical comparison of her love for her mommy (my sister, who sooo deserves this!). They routinely speak of their love being "this much". For example, the distance to the moon and back. Sweet Alana thought and thought of how much she loves her mommy, to which she replied "I wuv you more than da biggest poop in da potty!"

Your girl has remained in my thoughts and prayers ... you all have. I hope to read a good update on her soon.

Love,

Michelle in snowy Cincinnati
