Even with the ice storm, Abby is sick enough she had to go to the hospital anyway.
So Abby, Michelle and our friend Toni are making their way there now. The roads aren't too bad right now because rush hour melted them off, but I'm really concerned about them if they try to send her home in the middle of the night (after getting blood) rather than admitting her.
We live out in the sticks and I can't even get out of the driveway.
This is nerve-racking...

Praying for safe travels for all, and for the doctors to get Abby's acidosis under control quickly!
Praying!
Yes, ice storms can be beautiful ... if you can stay home to enjoy them. Not ... if you have to get out on the roads.
But ... even in ice storms ... God is in control. He is will Michelle, Toni, and precious Abby as they make their way to the hospital.
Hugs & Prayers!
Laurel :)
We will pray for their safety. When we had problems with traffic we asked our dr. to addmit our child and they were ok with it. Just ask, they might will be able too.

I'll say a prayer for them!
I'm guessing she goes to OU children's? I did a clinical rotation for 10 weeks there in July-Sept 2007. I love that place, and the 10th floor was my favorite :)

Still praying! I had been waiting for an update, so thank you.
First off - I guess I am now officially "de-lurking"... I found your blog through my cousin Jocelyn and Pacey (Kerry, Ruby, and Medina as well!)
I love reading about your family, and I'm always thinking and praying for Abby. I love how reading your blog (and the comments) can give me happy and sad tears all at once... I am a true believer that laughter really is the best medicine there is out there.
Hopefully the ice storm doesn't get as bad as it did last year. I don't think the hospital would send you out in the ice... you'd just end up right back there...
Thinking about Abby as always...
Jessica
I am glad to hear that Abby is going to get treated tonight.
Lord, I ask for your protection coming and going. I ask for wisdom for the doctors.
Amen.
Love, Holly in OKC
Hopefully they will keep her just in case.
Still praying!!
Kathy :)
Nerve-racking indeed!! We'll keep up the prayers - all night long and until we know all are safe.
I know it's tough to be away from them and it's rough for them not to have you there, either. Many hugs to all of you.
Prayers are being sent up right now, Brent, for Toni, Michelle and sweet Abby. (((HUGS))) to you as you wait for news. I hope the doctors are able to help with her vomiting.
Brent I keep checking back so i know how to pray specifically.
PRAYERS go to you guys right now! Hope Miss Abby, Michelle, and Toni make it safely home and Abby feels better!

I am an adult oncology nurse....here is my two cents. When we have patients come to the hospital for transfusion only (blood or platlets) they can stay the night and still be considered "outpatient" as long as it is less than 24 hours. We would never send someone out in the middle of the night, especially not a child, and especially not in an ice storm. So in less Michelle is taking Abby to a cruel hosptial, she should be safe for the night :)
Praying for Abby & your family.. the pics are beautiful. Love, J (http://web.mac.com/lgutwein)
Praying for all of you tonight!
Vouching for you living in the STICKS...Praying for saftey on the roads for the girls and for Abby like always. One good thing I can say about having the ICE right now is that our Refrigerator is not working right so I moved all the milk products to the back porch....although it will be a little chilly to get my Nite Nite snack of Cookies and Milk tonight...I am thankful for GODS NATURAL FRIDGE!
Oh I am praying for y'all right now! I'm not sure where y'all live but judging by the weather it must be in at least the same part of the country. We will pray for their safe trip and for Abby's health.
stay calm...praying here for their safety and Abby's comfort
Surely the hospital will admit her . . .
I am so sorry that you are going through this. The feeling of being unable to help is horrible. Know that you're in our prayers -- that Abby and Michele are in our prayers . . .
We will be praying!
Lauryn
I am so sorry to hear this about Abby, i don't know what words to even say, except, trust in God and keep the faith. God Bless your family
I am really sorry for this icestorm!! i definitely know what it is like because i live in northern michigan and winter lasts about 6 months...and periodically we get ice storms! so i really feel for you...and you can barely go anywhere. but through all of that it really is beautiful...God makes things that seem awful to us look amazing and beautiful. He is just awesome like that i guess :) i am continuing praying for Abby and all of you!!! GOD BLESS!!!!
So sorry. Will pray for all of you tonight.

I know this is so hard but just know we are praying so hard here for all of you. God will keep her safe.
Still PRAYING for the whole family.
praying for a little stillness over your heart and mind. you're in a very frustrating situation within an extremely emotional, stressful journey. Use this time to renew and refresh to be strong for Abby when she returns. pray, and God be with you as you do, Brent.
Praying like crazy that Abby feels better after the transfusion. God Bless the Riggs family.
Susan
Praying little Abby is feeling better real soon! The Lord will deliver them safe, I just know it! :)
Oh that is so tough when you feel like you should be with them and you just can't get there. We're praying for them and for YOU right now!
Praying Brent!
Father, please take care of Michelle, Abby and Toni tonight. Father, hold and protect them in Your hands. Father, keep them warm and comfortable. Please have the right staff and all of what Abby needs quickly on hand. Please ease Abby's discomfort tonight. Let her be a witness to every nurse and doctor giving her care. Bring others around them that know You intimately that can be encouraging tonight. Father, give peace and comfort to all the Rigg family at home waiting to hear that Abby is doing OK. We ask all of this in Jesus' name. AMEN!
Love you all,
Jill
Praying for Abby & your sweet family! We love you guys even though we've never met face-to-face!

Lord blanket this Father wih peace, and be with his wife as she travels, clear each road that she travels and help little Abby to feel your healing touch...
Brent: You must be a ball of nerves waiting for word of your family's safe arrival at the hospital. Praying for their safe travel and that Abby gets the immediate attention she needs.
Bonnie McClanahan & Family
Praying now-that they will arrive safely and Abby will get her much needed transfusion. Also praising the Lord for Toni! I am so blessed to know her and I am so thankful she is there to help you.
Michelle Mann
We have been praying for you most of the day. We hope the news is better than the storm.
{{{Brent}}} You are also IN God's hands. The ER Doctor WILL keep Abby overnight until she's back to par. More than likely she'll be getting plenty of IV solution to replenish fluid lost & that in itself takes LONG.
Please try to get some rest & meditation...
Love,
~Joni
We're praying they stay safe!!!
Will say a prayer for both of your girls and their safety!
Oh how scary..praying that Abby feels better soon and everyone remains safe traveling.
Continuing to pray with you for Abby. This ice storm has about canceled Stillwater ,except for the BEDLAM GAME, it is so treacherous outside. Praying for safety and the best possible outcome for making a trip in thos weather!
Linda and the crew
My prayers too are added to the above. I cannot begin to imagine the weather conditions you describe as I live in UK (where we moan on the weather anyway!)
I hope to read better news later today (it is early morning here)
May God keep you lifted up.
Love Granny(*!*)
Still praying for Abbie, anxious for an update on how her transfusion went. Hopefully the drs admitted her so they didn't have to go back out in the storm. I'll be praying throughout the night for your precious daughter
