Like a lot of you, we have trouble getting real smiles versus fake smiles from our kids. The "real" ones look fake, and the fake ones look real. Ironically, when we ASK them to fake smile, they turn out to be what we wish they would do for real!
Fav Foto Friday is about "fakes", so we rustled up the herd and ask them for their "fake smile" today and they had no clue what we were talking about.

Another fun thing we do is "fake spanking"... the kids love to fake cry over a fake spanking and fake, fake, fake... so they wanted to share with you an eposide of fake getting in trouble:

I have to say that that's a pretty cute game! Looks like something my daughter would think was funny! Thanks for sharing all your fakes :)
That's some great FAKE spanking. The kids are adorable. I especailly liked the spidey move at the end
Beautiful kids!!! It reminds me of my kids so much, fake smiles always!! We also do the fake spanking thing,it just cracks me up what they think is funny. Is'nt wonderful that we can actually laugh at "fake Spanking" when some kids get spanked for real all day long. I have a neighbor that spanks her kids, and yell's at them constantly. I do believe in spanking for serious things only. My older kids have been spanked probably two times in their whole lives. My older kids are now 10y,and 11y. Anyways, your family is so awesome!! Hope you have a wonderful night.
Love, Amber (Las Vegas)
That was funny. My kids would love to do that...I think I will try it tomorrow. Thanks for making us laugh!!
Give Abby a big hug from us!

i see you being a fart kinda guy!!
Too funny! Our 7 year old son can do the world's best fake cry. He doesn't fool me very often, but he can sure fool visiting friends.
And, an interesting story of fake smiles: For the 9 months before we met our 3 children from Ghana, we got a lot of pictures. EVERYONE commented on Jacob's smile. I even said, "No one could ever fake such a smile. He must be so happy." Well ... the truth is that he had had to learn how to use his smile for manipulation in order to survive; and he had learned it well. After being home 6 months, we had a family photo shoot with 11 of our 13 children (quite a feat to get them all on the same continent, as the older ones are missionaries). When we kept telling the kids to give us a "real smile", Jacob just stood there with a blank stare. He had no idea how to give a "real smile"; he knew that his smile was one that he had perfected for manipulation. Pretty sad!
wow what an idiot i am i meant to say laugh not left....guess thats what happens typing with a baby in your arms..geesh..can you edit that so i dont look like a total moron? please :) is that possible? oh boy!!
Nah... there is nothing fake about those smiles! They are too adorable! The fake spankings are too funny!!! Glad you all have so much fun at our expense!!!
Beautiful smiles, happy kids!
What a blessing.
I'm so glad my husband isn't the only one who teases his kids about spankings. Except he words it just a little different. He will say in his very biggest, small Oklahoma hick town accent, "Ya wanna a whoppin'?"
It serves to bring us some very concerned looks while in public. However most people usually get the hint that it's all a joke, when our children respond with careless laughs and "Yes Daddy! Yay! Give us a whoppin'!"
Of course this gives me the opportunity to also respond to their stares with, "As you can see we beat them often." And on occassion on of our kids will toss in, "Yeah, we like it!" :)
Looks like you have some pretty slick actors in the Riggs family! Ditto what mommyandthethreeboys said about being able to laugh about this. This is a feel-good site. Whenever I am down I go on this site and volia! (did I spell that right?) 'LAUGHTER LIVES!' :) :) lol..:)
Your kids are Academy award winning fakers!
hugs,Leslie
Love the smiles! :)
Our family actually does the fake spanking game too. Our boys think its hilarious! heehee
Y'all are sooooo silly. Haha! That's cute.
I'm a newer reader to your inspiring blog. I think your family is amazing! Your children are beautiful, fake smiles and all. I pray for Abby daily. I am also praying for Cody. It's so hard for me to watch these gorgeous children fight cancer. But there is hope. I'm a survivor, miracles happen everyday. Have a great weekend!
What a bunch of cuties! Hope Abbey is doing okay.
Hilarious! We have a game called "The whipping game" we play with my cousins where we try to fake whip them and they try to "Run for their lives." If they get "caught" we fake spank them and they flail about like they just got back from the woodshed. Yeah, right up there on the "Why I need therapy list" for little ones! LOL
Abby's smile doesn't look too fake..LOL!!
Love it!
Love it & I'm pretty sure they do too! :) What a sweet family!
Too cute!!
First I think you and your family are awesome and I pray more now than I ever did in my past 63 years.
That said, I am in the minority and I do not get the FAKE SPANKING game.Working with disadvantaged and often abused young(up to age 2) children has made me "ultra"sensitive to this type of behavior. I see the real thing too often, taken to the extreme, and the result is a pathetic little one scared by and adult action which they justify as"he/she just needed a whoopin etc and he shut up. It worked!" Great, that point really got across to your daughter or son on a positive level. I realized it is a "game" but perhaps a "game of make believe" promoting a more positive way of solving a behavorial issue could be and option.
Let me get off my soap box and wish you a weekend of fun experiences with the kids.(and some rest for you folks too)Les@saglibene.com Spring Hill Fl.
Your game looks like fun! Kids love that kind of stuff! Love all the fake smiles. Brought a real smile to my face!
Melinda
