Hi/Lo Thursday
Hi/Lo Thursday is where we get to know each other by sharing our emotional/spiritual HIGH and LOW for this previous week. It's a great way to get to know each other!
Our HIGHS:
A "high" that you won't find on most normal days. Our high is getting to give chemo at home. We cajoled the doctors into allowing us to keep her I.V. port in, and sending us home with the chemo. It takes us about 5 minutes, saving us 4-5 hours going to the clinic.
It's kind of weird putting a chemical into your child that is highly toxic and you have to protect yourself from even smelling, much less touching.

Abby is actually telling me to "smile Daddy!"
as Sami takes the pics.

Abby has two ports: the one on the left with the white circle is her
feeding tube. The one on the right, under the bandages is her I.V. port.
The dark area around her feeding tube port is where they had
to chemically burn off the tissue that was expanding outside her stomach.
Michelle is putting chemo in a second port, on the right, a tube
that runs directly into her heart. Fun, huh?

Momma, a real nurse, administers chemo while Dad, a pretend nurse
helps out. Actually, I (Brent) do all this stuff too, but I only feel safe doing it
because Michelle carefully watches everything anyone does medically with Abby.
Our LOWS:
Abby is already starting to show signs of the mucositis (sores) after just a couple of days of starting this round. Last night she was weak and tired. It appears we are headed for another very difficult time. We covet your prayers.
Okay, now it's YOUR turn. Here's how:

Thinking of you Abby and praying for all of you, Riggs family!!
Abby you are such big brave little girl! I am so proud of you!! Ok now for the Taser! I really wish I had one of those! I would have used it on my dog this morning when after no sleep last night he woke up the grand baby I had just gotten to sleep barking at the neighbor dogs for no reason! Good thing I don't have one! Just kidding!
I'm so happy that you guys are able to do the treatment at home!

It hurts me to even see that baby's little tummy like that, i guess that is why it takes special people to be nurses and dr.s...ones that can do it (and knows it has to be done) to try and help them. I am sure if i HAD to do it like you all have to, i would...but my heart breaks for her so bad. My little one cries when she knows where she is when she goes to the dr. for anything, just scared, so look what poor Abby has gone through...Dear God i am begging for you to help Abby Riggs, please Lord, i know you can do all things, i have faith and truly trust you, you are the great creator of all things, so Lord, please help her mommy and daddy, give them the strength and courage they need to deal with this, they love their child as we all do, so this isn't any Less pain for them to see and go through than it is us when we see it, my heart breaks for this family, especially Abby, and there are sooo many more children in the same shape, God please spare the little children from pain and suffering, in your name i pray, Amen. I Love You Abby.... Michelle, you are truly a wonderful Mother, it shows in many ways, God Bless you and keep you strong and able to care for Abby's needs.
Sweet Abby, we're praying for you!
Brent, looks like you're keeping a pretty close watch on Michele in that last pic. ;)
Take care!
Stacey in Missippi
Bless her heart, sweet girl. Brent, you do look like you're keeping a close watch on things.
Please let everyone know that if they buy a TASER C2 and put in ABBY as a promo code, I will donate $25 to the Riggs Family to help with expenses.
God bless and keep smiling.
Lisa
Brent, The way you look at Michelle as she gives Abby her chemo is so telling of the love you have for these women. I can see it in your eyes in the photo. May God bless you beyond your wildess dreams.

Heya,
I don't have a blog so I'll put my highs and lows here.
My high for the past week: Today the sun was out! The weather was so nice and warm, around 40F! I took my baby out for a walk and we went to the park. I introduced him to the swings. He smiled and laughed and I took pictures of him. It was a happy time.
Lows: I get lonely sometimes, staying home with my baby. Don't get me wrong, I love being a mom. I miss talking to adults sometimes though. My time in the sun today helped.
I just wanted to share my HIGH here if that is ok!! OUr boys were both adopted from Guatemala, and their re-adoption was completed on tuesday. For the first time in 5 years of adoption mode, we are done with paperwork. (Other than filing for Citizenship). God is sooo good. There were so many times that I never thought we would see this day,(due to drama and fighting to get them home) but He held on to us and it happened!! Praise God!!!!
I continue to pray for you daily!!!!
Thanks for adding me to the list :)
Your family is such an encouragement!
I know what it's like to give chemo shots. When my mom was sick I used to give her chemo shots at home...and as a true homeschooling mom she incorporated it into "science class".
Little Precious Abby and your family are in my prayers!
I did a new blog just before reading this Tonigt but too exhausted to participate this wk... IF ya read the blog you'll see my hi/and lots of lo's just in one day... but Abby keeps me smiling & Jesus keeps me going on!
Thanks for sharing the pics/info... I pray we both HEAL!
