A reader wrote and told me of a Pastor who teaches that babies who die with unbelieving parents, goes to hell. She asked me what I thought about that statement. Check out my answer here....
I love to write about what my readers want to know, and what they are interested in. What topics, questions, or ideas do you have for me this upcoming week that I can write about? brent@brentriggs.com

I haven't read your reply yet, but you please explain what fault that is of the child's?! He/she can't control their parents beleifs. So why should they have to suffer??
I would like to hear your thoughts on the woman who just had the eight babies. responsible, irresponsible?
I called it irresponsible and someone got mad at me and told me that it was godly to grow your family, and I was upset because it's also godly to be able to afford and take care of the family you already have. I am totally for big family, infact I really admire families like the Duggars or jonkate+8, but these family are responsibly caring for the children they already have.
were the doctors ethical? where do you say enough is enough? how many is too many? I have so many questions?
what are your thoughts?
This is disgusting.
Honestly, does this man believe such a thing?
Children are unable to understand the "right and wrong" and the punishment for disobedient behavior.
Jesus called for the chidren to come to Him adding "For such is the Kindgom of Heaven".
Innocence is no punished by God.
I also believe the "age of accountability" is not a line drawn into the sand.
The age each person understands right, wrong, and can be considered accountable is up to God in his wisdom.
No magic number is available.
It is very sad to me when people want to "play God".
Can you guys please email me a mailing address? I have some special things from Mardi Gras for the kiddos and I want to get it out to them soon!! THANKS

Brent -
I have been following your story for a while now and am praying for your family. I read your reply posted elsewhere and wanted to respond.
The concept that the children of unsaved parents go to hell is in no way directly related to Calvinism or reformed theology. I am reformed, my family is reformed, I know hundreds of reformed people - I have never heard ANYONE say that the unborn children of unsaved people automatically go to hell or link such a concept to the Biblical picture of election as described in Ephesians and Romans. Such a statement says more about your understanding of reformed theology than it does reformed theology. After all, believing as I do in election, wouldn't I be more inclined to believe that God in His infinite love, mercy and foreknowledge would predestine children never going to be born to Heaven rather than Hell? That is the logical conclusion, is it not?
While I agree with your ultimate conclusions, that the Bible does not speak clearly to this issue, I think perhaps you have spoken against a group of right-standing believers in a way that is unfair and untrue. I and many other reformed believers can believe and do believe that God is love and in His love, He does provide for children who are never born and given the opportunity to hear the gospel. Frankly, without election and foreknowledge, how else would that be possible?
Thanks for the sharing and research you have put into this. Throughout your posts on this blog your family has blessed me more than you can know.
That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Isn't it horrible how so many can mislead people about the Lord and His Heart?
God have mercy.
I just don't even know what to say about someone who would espouse such an idea...except maybe they are coming at from the idea of sins of the father type of thing, but even then i am astounded. Your answer was great Brent.
