Pictures from the Blocks and You Are Going to Miss This

I, Michelle, could really use your prayers. Most of this journey has been really, really hard, but, by the grace of God, we have been okay. It is getting a lot tougher for me. There is so much work that needs to be done, Abby needs a lot of care and the others kids still need parents. Brent is sick, with a temp of 101, so the kids can't even be in the same room as him. Abby has no immune system, so we have to be very careful. I would appreciate your prayers for:
  • health for our family
  • strength and energy for me get the work done that has to be done
  • wisdom to let the things go that aren't necessary
  • for the wisdom to treasure our time with our children, even on the really tough days

Most importantly, please join us in praising God that Abby is home, very happy and running through the house with a huge smile on her face. God is so good.

Pam at http://pramom26.blogspot.com/ has a blog carnival that I love. She reminds us that someday, we will miss what we have today. God blesses each of us, daily. I don't want to take any of His blessings for granted.

Even on a not so great day like today, we watched Abby and Sami laugh until they had tears in their eyes, got the worlds best hugs from Landis and spent time with friends we love. God's blessings are all around us.

Normally Abby is not allowed to go out around people, because her immune system is so weak. Last month Abby had a tiny window where her immune system was healthy enough for her to have a little fun, before she began her hardest round of chemo. We let her choose from several safer choices and she chose, without a moments hesitation, to spend the weekend at the Block's home. http://buildingtheblocks.blogspot.com/ If you don't know the Blocks, you are missing out on a huge blessing.

The picture is a little blury, but I want to show you one of
Abby's very favorite people. Even though Amy lives hours away,
Abby asks to go to her house almost daily. I wish we lived closer, too.
Friends since they were babies. Aleigha was so sweet to Abby.

Mya, Aleigha, Abby and Eli (Leslie's son). Our Guatemalan foursome.
Leslie, we loved spending the afternoon with you and your children.
We would love to see you again sometime soon.
Leslie's daughter Nandi and Addie
Leslie's son Noah.

Abby and Mya. Mya has the most beautiful hair.

Addisyn and Abby. Addie you are an incredible young lady.
You remind me so much of your mother. You have a heart f
or helping orphans and for serving God. I am so proud of you.

Abby and Travis. This pictures has been shown many
times before, but Abby LOVES it. Travis thank you for
taking the time to be so sweet to Abby.

Abby and Kallan. Abby's face says it all.

Sami and Addie

We miss you guys so much it hurts.
Thank you so much for making Abby and
Sami feel so special and loved. We love you.

Michelle and family,
I am praying for you from Massachusetts. I wish Brent a speedy recovery, Abby a good night's sleep and more belly laughs...and most importantly for you some small piece of mind. The world of housework/management doesn't give a break, does it? I am a single mom and can feel overwhelemed many times over - by dishes, papers, everyone's constant needs. You are doing a good job - one foot in front of the other. Thanks for all the great pictures...it's wonderful to see the kids smiling. xox Deb from Ma.

Michelle, We are praying for all of you. I know this is more than tough. Hang in there and just take one thing at a time. These days will pass and good times lie ahead! It is so hard being the mama. It is the hardest job, but the most blessed one I believe! God has been preparing you for this your whole life. He will give you everything you need. On Beth Moore's new study, she was saying we often feel like we don't see God's miracles and in Esther there are no big, outstanding miracles where we directly see God moving. Then she said- don't you think God equipping us to do things we just don't have the strength to do are miracles? You are a part of God's miracles everyday!

Oh, Michelle, I have been praying for Abby. I will be praying for you, especially the wisdom you need to let the unimportant things go and focus on the eternal. I am thankful that you have Abby at home, laughing until she nearly had tears. I pray that I, too, will learn how to enjoy the moments I have with my kids.

My 6 year old, today, said, "Mama, I don't want things to change next year." She was talking about her 2 older brothers graduating from HS this year, one going to the Navy and one going away to college. I pray that I can teach her to enjoy these moments, and look to the future with hope.

Blessings,

Your family is always in my prayers but I will pray even harder for you.
It is tough being a mom. I can't imagine how hard it would be to be a mom of a sick child.
YOU are special to God and He will provide the strength you need.
You are amazing.

So sorry to hear Brent is sick!!
My grandmother used to say "The tough days are what make the good days that much sweeter" Sounds like you guys live by that motto. Praying that Brent feels better and that Abby continues to do well.
Love the pictures!!! The happiness just flows out of them!!

I admire you more than you can imagine, Michelle. Our Ruthie was hospitalized for a week last March following her nephrectomy, and I was totally exhausted. You have held out so well for so long, and, of course, it is taking its toll. From one mom to another, you will be in my prayers.

Praying for you and the family tonight. I'm sure this is very hard for Brent, too, as he is such a helpful Papa, and I know he feels bad leaving it all to you.

Praying for health for all of you ... healing for Abby ... wisdom for the doctors ... grace, peace, and mercy too.

Hugs & Blessings,

Laurel :)

Michelle, warrior and sweet mother and wife you are,

Father, weariness is sometimes so fatiguing and we become weak and vulnerable to your enemy’s attacks and to our own nature.

We cry Abba Father (daddy) because you have encouraged us to come boldly into YOUR throne room of GRACE to seek your favor, bring our petitions, praises and hurts.

Father I, with so many others “stand in the gap” lifting up Michelle in particular, for her responsibilities are manifold and meticulous that she must be alert and aware ready for those “unseen” things that our foe would bring into her purview. We seek your face that her activities would be exactly what you would want, that all her movements would honor and glorify you Holy Father. We are so susceptible to our own nature when we are very weary, we pray for Michelle that you would life her spirits even in the face of all she has to do and be responsible for.

Father we thank you deeply for your provisions that Michelle would “see” things and hear the voice of your Holy Spirit in keeping Abby safe.

Father it is incredible how your people who’ve never met one another face to face can still love one another as though they’d been close for years. Thank you Father for your Holy Spirit and how he ministers to your children.

Thank you Father for Michelle’s weariness, for her weaknesses for the times of hardship that you’ve orchestrated into her life that maturity might have its full blossom. We praise your name for each and every problem Michelle faces and we thank you for YOU ARE our Jehovah Jiriah, without who we would have no provision at all.

Father we, I’m confident, pray collectively for Michelle’s health and rejuvenation wanting only for your name to be glorified.

Thank you Father that it is NEVER about the circumstance but rather it is about THE ONE who has brought that circumstance into our life and what HIS intent and desires are through each of those events and circumstances. Thank you Father that it is ALWAYS about your UNCONDITIONAL love and desire for us to become more like you.

Father I thank you for this family’s example for their faithfulness, for their undeniable love and adoration for you and your son, for their willingness to live what GRACE looks like and not just talk about it.

Father you know what is best in Michelle’s life at any and all given moments; we would ask only that you be glorified in and through it all.

Because we love and appreciate Michelle our selfish side would ask that she be completely revitalized and that her energy and strength be returned a 100 fold, however, we know not the plans you have for the Riggs family so we pray that your will would be done in each of their lives and ours, that maturity in your blessed son would come to full blossom. Give us we pray grace and endurance that others might see Christ in us.

In Jesus power and absolute name

Amen

Michelle, may each challenge continue drawing you to your knees that “The Way” might be walked with humility, honor, dignity, nobility, and most of all GRACE.

Much love in

HIS Amazing Grace

that old scruffy carpenter
