Tuesday... Abby Back in the Hospital for the 19th Time Since July

Abby's sores still hurt, but they are healed enough to start the next round of chemo. They are painful enough that she still needs continuous morphine, but her cancer is just too aggressive to wait any longer. At least they are keeping her comfortable.

Abby had a great weekend with only a few times of discomfort. We look forward to her not being on morphine constantly but her enjoyment of life was so remarkably improved for a few days.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, she will be admitted to the hospital for a spinal tap and some nasty chemo. In the past they have had trouble sedating her for the spinal, so I would appreciate your prayers for her comfort. They will also be checking her intracranial pressure.

Some members of Abby's medical team wanted her to get a lower dose of one of her chemo drugs, but her primary doctor feels strongly that she needs the full dose to remain in remission. I am praying that God protects her from the harsher side effects.

We are very happy with how Abby is handling one of her meaner chemo drugs, Vincristine. In the past she has had muscle wasting, nerve pain and her reflexes were absent. At its worst, she was unable to stand for more than a couple of seconds.

Today she was able to impress us with her strength (walking on tippy toes and heals) and she has reflexes for the first time since JULY! In the past, she would barely be able to walk at this point. Thank you for praying!

We anticipate her being in the hospital 2-3 days while they monitor her for reactions to the chemo and keep her fluid levels up. We really covet your prayers over the next week... it takes about 5-7 days for the chemo to hit full toxicity in her body so this weekend and next week could be a another dangerous round for Abby if history is any indication.

We'll keep you updated.

~ Michelle

Lots of prayers are being said for Abby at our house. I also wanted to leave a little note for Sami. Girl, you are such a great big sister. Everytime I see a picture of you with Abby it makes me smile. God put you in your family because Abby needed someone as wonderful as you to watch out for her. Good Job, Sami!

Brent & Michelle, It sounds like all of you rejuvenated over the weekend and everyone is strong and ready to take on the next battle. The fact that she is so strong right now is such a huge positive going into this! We will be praying for all the details you listed. We, as a family, are honored to pray for your baby girl.

Prayers, as usual. I have to say I never had bad reactions to the Vincristine, but hated the Adriamycin.
hoping tomorrow goes as smoothly as humanly possible.

Dear Brent and family,

As sweet Abby goes for another tough round of chemo, we are encouraged to know that though we know not what tomorrow holds, we know the one who holds it, He is faithful, He is mighty to save and heal, and he loves to hear His children pray. This is another opportunity for us to exercise our faith--we won't miss out on it! We will pray for: Abby's comfort, protection and healing, your strength and joy and peace for your children.
With love, Evah Odoi.

Michelle, we will certainly be praying for Abby and all of you. Thank you for your detailed updates. It really helps in being able to pray for her specifically. And please tell Brent his idea about the books is a great one! We would love to do that! We actually did that for some friend's kids when we moved here (far from family and friends). Take care and hang in there. Know you guys are COMPLETELY covered in prayer tomorrow. Hugs for Abby who is the bravest little girl I have ever seen!

Holy Cats!!! "muscle wasting, nerve pain and her reflexes were absent." Oh dear God, PLEASE do relieve this pain in Abby!!!

I AM suffering from the same also (elbow down to tip of pinky) AND it IS painful!!! I can't even imagine Abby's legs! Uff-da!

Now, about the Chemo... I know nothing about it YET. I'm in 'waiting mode' before surgery period... but I surely am praying Abby keeps on smiling with her FAITH in Jesus Our Savior!

Thanks so much for posting Michelle... I really believe I was led here for learning experience of ENJOYING GOD's LOVE even during Cancer. Abby IS an ANGEL (& sweet one at that) :-)

I am praying Brent and Michelle....and hoping she is spared from more toxic side effects. I cant imagine how hard it must be to know that she has to have chemo, know the potential side effects because you have already lived through it, and that you still have to make her go through it again. My heart is broken for you both, and especially for your sweet Abby-- what a precious angel she is--her spirit is so refreshing and inspirational!

Praying all goes better than what is expected, and that the Lord gives her supernatural immunity and strength to ward off the side effects and the cancer.

Praise Him for the wonderful blessings He has bestowed onto you during this storm! I pray that the blessings will keep on coming!(((Hugs)))

Oh, Abby, sweet girl. Be brave. Take your courage and strength from the Lord!!! We are praying every step of the way! We love your video idea, and I know that Caleb and Christian would LOVE to read you a story.
Here is little Caleb's favorite verse when he is scared. He has it 'memorized' from a song he knows. I hope it blesses you today, sweet Abby!!

"Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."-Isaiah 41:10

Love, Caleb and Christian and their Mommy and Daddy
