Hi/Lo Thursday & Special Guest on the Blog

Special Guest:

Hi! My name is Heather. That's me down there at the bottom of this pink box, with our daughter, also "Abby".
I wanted to tell you about something that a group of people are doing for the Riggs. We've been putting this together for weeks, and I talked Brent & Michelle into letting me tell their blog friends about it.

A group of us have gotten "Praying for Abby" T-shirts donated to help raise money for the expenses the Riggs have had since Abby got sick. You read their blog, so I don't have to convince you how giving they are to other people. We wanted to help them by raising some money, and wanted to give all of you a chance to particpate.

Out of thousands and thousands of people that read their blog and magazine, we have a goal of selling 3000 t-shirts to raise money. Brent & Michelle have agreed to keep a "countdown" on the blog so we can see the progress.

I hope you'll consider purchasing a couple t-shirts, or 10, or 20 :)... all proceeds go directly to Brent and Michelle. For more information and to purchase: http://www.brentriggs.com/abbytshirt.asp
Note the sizes you want when you order: Adult (sm, med, lg, xL, xxL); Child (sm, med, lg, xl)

Hi/Lo Thursday

When you participate in things like "Laughter Lives Tuesday", "Hi/Lo Thursday", or suggest a photo caption, you get links on our site to your blog, chances to be in our magazine and a lot of laughs and tears.

Hi/Lo Thursday is where we get to know each other by sharing our emotional/spiritual HIGH and LOW for this previous week. It's a great way to get to know each other!

Our HIGHS:

Our high would have to be Heather and the Praying for Abby T-shirts. Heather asked us about this a couple of months ago. We just didn't know if we should put it on the blog, but finally decided okay since so many people had raised money to buy and print the T-shirts on our behalf. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends.
Our LOWS:

Abby is in the hospital, probably will be for a while. Just can't seem to turn the corner.

Okay, now it's YOUR turn. Here's how:
  • Go to your blog, create a new post for "Hi/Lo Thursday!" Copy and paste ALL the HTML code below at the beginning your post.
(NOTE: Make sure you are in HTML mode when you paste HTML code!):
Then, use the form at the bottom of this post to enter the title of your BLOG and the link to your "Hi/Lo" blog post. (if you don't have a blog, feel free to leave a comment)

That's it! You'll be linked in today's entries and we'll have a fun and inspiring list of "Hi/Lo Thursday" posts for everyone to read! Can't wait to read your blog posts for "Hi/Lo Thursday". By the way, did you know it really helps YOUR blog to have a link on our blog (because of how much trafffic we get)?

I copied and pasted, but it didn't work for me. I still put your address on my post, though. :)

I didn't find a place to ask questions about the shirt on their site so I'll ask here. Are the shirts going to be in children's sizes too? I'd love to get one for my Guate-daughter too.

I saw someone already ask about children's sizes, but what about adult sizes? Are they all one size?? I would LOVE to buy one for me and both of my girls!!

I think I am a day late for pray for me . . . pray for others. I had good intentions but was stuck in Denver Airport trying to get home. I hope I am not too late.:) Please pray for sweet baby Jonah and his family. (http://patriceandmattwilliams.blogspot.com/2009/03/prayer-request_11.html)

Also, just a quick note to say Thank you for your thank you note. You so did not need to send me a thank you note for the card we sent to Abby but what a wonderful surprise it was to come home to after a day full of flight delays trying to get home. :)

Still praying for all of you.

I hope its ok that I added Abby to our "Pray for Kids" blog. It was a blog that was started as a way to keep a master list of prayers needs in our VACTERL community but has grown tremendously. I am praying for Abby and for the entire family.

Here's the link: http://prayforkids.blogspot.com/

When I worked with pediatric patients, there was a type of seaweed product (looked like un-spun wool) that came in a roll and you could put it around the gtube site, it was very absorbent and wicked the moisture away. I had a patient who had a terrible time with leaking stomach contents at the site and this really helped keep the acidic contents off of her skin. There is also a pink type of pad that is used in wound care that is super absorbent and it can be cut like a drain sponge to go around the tube. Has an ostomy nurse/wound care team looked at her site? Sometimes peds teams neglect to call them because they aren't used to dealing with wounds like adult practitioners, and their are a lot of good products out there. Also, have the considered removing the tube for a specified time period to allow it to tighten up at the site, sometimes this helps with leaking also....just some ideas.
