Three New Blog Badges: Zoey, Gavin and Philip

There are three new blog badges on our blog that we want you to check out.

Our only regret is that we can't respond to and post all the requests we receive. We realize that some people feel overlooked or ignored. Our blog family has grown ten fold over the past few months and with that comes a new set of challenges.

Please realize that we get, and respond to dozens upon dozens of emails every day. We get a steady stream of requests to mention blogs, post badges, and let you know about other precious children or adults in tough situations. We wish we could post every single one of them. In fact, I might create a new blog simply for that purpose...

We have no rules or patterns or criteria about how we respond. We just do what we can do for as many as we can while continuing to minister generally to all. Please don't feel forgotten or neglected or ignored or intentionally overlooked. It is just simply physically impossible to respond to all and post everything we are asked to post.

One last thing... I was asked yesterday "how can you possibly respond to, pray for, and actually spend time thinking about hundreds of people and requests?" The question kind of implied that we pretend like we actually DO all those things for every request. Of course we don't... we can't, it's impossible and we don't pretend otherwise.

We respond to a LOT, we pray for a LOT, we answer a LOT, we give advice to a LOT... but we can't do it for all. I think people realize that. That is why we do features like "Pray for Me, Pray for Others" so that our entire community of blog friends can get in on praying for each other and responding with advice and information. We also allow our comments to be used to post links and information for other readers to see. This allows our blog friends to "post" their requests or information on our blog when they need to. People read comments, trust me.

We will continue to think of new creative ways to build "community" into our blog so that it can become a source of ministry to as many as possible.

Over on the right, you'll see blog badges for Zoey, Gavin, and Philip. Please take a moment and visit their blog and get to know them. Not trying to single anyone out, but Zoey's beautiful face will just melt your heart.

We'll keep you posted on Abby's surgery today. We have a lot of new pics and videos to share this week, just trying to find time to get them posted.

Thanks for the overwhelming response yesterday. It was very encouraging. We do not, and will not dwell on the negative comments, but occasionally they give us opportunity to remind each other what we are doing and why we are doing it.

I think the majority of us realize how busy you are, and we really appreciate the time that you have given us.

Maybe someone (that you know/trust) would be willing to run/moderate a Riggs family message board and/or chat room? I've seen both work wonders in building community. Some of my best friends are those that I connected with online as far back as 10 years ago through message boards and chat rooms, and we are still friends to this day.

Just throwing the idea out there.

I couldn't believe the post that you showed... the negative one. I think you are doing the right thing. Be encouraged that people are praying for Abby, my family is, and we do look at others and pray for others as well. I like the community it builds and the way, as believers, we connect even through blogging. I was woken last night to pray for Abby's surgery, and EARLY this morning. Know that you are covered!
God Bless,
christy

Praying for sweet Abby as always. I'm trying to wean myself from computer time but I ALWAYS check on Abby everyday. Michelle left a comment on Sydney's blog a few weeks ago requesting her badge code (I don't have a code - I juyst copied the picture onto blogger and inserted our web address) Brent you had actually commented on setting up a code for me but I never replied (I'mreally terrible about that and forgetful too)

Praying for surgery today.

Blessings,
Sandy

Dear Riggs family, I just prayed for you and will continue to pray for the surgery today.

If there is anything that I can do to help you with the requests, or organize a prayer chain or something, please let me know. You all do so much to bless others, and lift up the name of the Lord.

Blessings, Lisa

I've seen a couple of other sites - Faithful Froggers, Dylan Hartung and Hope 4 Peyton come to mind - who started up separate pages for prayer requests or websites of sick children. Faithful Froggers actually lets the readers add their own requests, maybe you could team up with them or start your own page. Otherwise your page will be so full of badges you won't see anything else!

Having a busy blog is something so many people desire, but it does come with it's own stresses and demands. Keep your chin up, you're doing just fine!
