MckLinky was created by Brent Riggs and co-inspired by MckMama.MckLinky was born from need. There was a time when there was only one "linky" service available and it wasn't exactly Mr. Reliable.
As I (Brent), thought about using link lists on my own blogs, I did not want to rely on a service that had a growing history of having problems or being unavailable. So as a programmer, I simply decided to create my own linky system to use privately.
Over time, others asked me about being able to use my system. I got to together with my good friend, MckMama, who has linky lists of hundreds, sometimes thousands of links, and we brainstormed the idea. As we were thinking about names, it became obvious that a takeoff on "MckMama" was the right choice... MckLinky.
We came up with a list of the best and worst aspects of how linky lists should work and planned to create a simple, reliable system that included the easiest and most useful features.
Brent and MckMama launched MckLinky as a free service offering the BASIC MckLinky to kick things off. Very quickly, they will introduce several new kinds of linky lists that will allow users to have fun on their blogs offering users the ability to do MckLinky lists for things like picture caption contests, ask a question or create an idea list.
We hope you enjoy MckLinky and get a lot of good use out of it. Please free free to contact us any time with suggestions, comments or questions.
