They are trying a different antibiotic, but she warned me that if it doesn't work, they will probably try the antibiotic Abby is allergic to. She said, "If it means her life, we will need to talk about risking it and giving her the Vancomyacin." Since it made Abby's airway swell the last time they gave it to her, I am very nervous about them giving it to her. They are concerned that the antibiotic won't work and are trying to prepare us.
I really trust the person who will be taking care of Abby this week. She has been helping cancer kids for decades, is conservative, believes in God and she really cares. I asked her how serious this infection is and said that healthy people can die from this. Not what this mommy wants to hear.
