Abby Lights the State Christmas Tree Tonight

From Michelle:

Sometimes it is so hard to write about what we are going through. It shouldn't be hard. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, did some fun Christmas crafts, and received many boxes of beautiful hand-me-down clothes from our sweet friends. We have a lot of sweet pictures to share. We have so much to be thankful for.

With Abby having headaches again, I find myself spending a lot of time praying, watching her and just holding my breath.

Thank you for praying for Abby's pseudotumo- induced-headaches (more here). Abby looks much better and is complaining about headaches less. Abby knows that if she complains, she gets to spend time at the doctor's office, and has to miss school. So I am still watching her very close. I really think she is doing better, but after our visit to the eye doctor on Wednesday, I am left with questions and concerns.

One big problem that intracranial hypertension can cause is vision loss. Until now Abby's vision has been perfect. Until now. This time they reported problems with her sight, that weren't there a few months back.

The plan is to do a spinal tap next week and check her pressures. If they return to normal, we will just keep watching her. If not, I want to take her to the best specialist I can find. Unfortunately they are in Ohio.

Today, Abby gets to meet the Oklahoma Governor and light the State Christmas tree at the Capitol. Out of the whole State, she and two other children were chosen to "flip the switch" on the tree.

Please pray that Abby would feel good and enjoy this special time. Please also pray that I would relax, so that I can help Abby have fun. Now that I have a game plan for the "what ifs", I am not worreied but I am sad Abby is going through yet another painful journey.

Thank you for praying for Abby, Avalon and Hannah Grace. Please also pray for a baby boy, Brock, who is battling leukemia and needs a miracle.

I pray for your sweet Abby often. I pray for you too! It is hard being a mom!! I never realized what people meant when they said that. I thought yeah yeah kids can be rambuncious,etc... I did not realize that they meant the emotional pain of having your heart outside of your body. I hope Abby wins this fight and grows up to be a even bigger blessing than she already is!

How fun for Abby to get to flip that switch! Will it be televised on the news? We continue to pray for Abby every single day and we are really praying away those headaches and the vision disturbances. Those are things that our Daniel has going on every day and we pray so fervently for him that they do not worsen. Please give our sweet celebrity girl (and her sibs too) a big hug from Smith Soup!!
love,
Linda

Michelle, I'm gitty with excitement about our little Abby being honored in lighting the State Christmas tree along with two other precious children! How special is that?!

The Lord has his hand on her life. He is accomplishing great & mighty things through your little daughter's life! She is a gift to all of us who have come to love her as we pray for her. And, pray, we do.

Please post pictures of her lighting the tree! Can hardly wait to see them!

God bless you, Brent, and the entire family!

My son has pseudotumor cerebri (as well as lipomyelomeningocele, chiari malformation, gastroparesis & a connective tissue disorder) and since diamox was not doing a good job of alleviating his symptoms, he just had a lumbo-peritoneal shunt placed on Monday (in conjunction with a spinal cord detethering surgery). While he's still in the hospital, we are already seeing improvement in his PTC symptoms.

Maybe an LP shunt would work for Abby. I haven't heard that the best specialists for PTC are in Ohio & would be very interested in knowing which doctors you are referencing so that my son's neurosurgeon could consult with them if needed. From what I've researched on PTC, treatment is pretty standard (though none has better than 50/50 odds)... if there are some specialists 'out there' who know of better ways to treat PTC, I'd sure love to hear about them!

Hello from Australia, my heart goes out to all of you...
You have nothing to loose from trying this...
Fresh vegetables and fruits with raw nuts and some coconut milk blender and given as nourishment.
I am a retired Registered nurse and believe cancer lives on dead foods... such as meats and takeaways....
Its okay to eat these in moderation but not as a healthy diet... and certainly not at all for someone with cancer. All is in Gods hands.... I pray your little one safe.
Love and blessings Crystal Lindsey

Praying for Abby's headaches. That they completely go away and her vision will get no worse. If you happen to end up going to OH, let me know if it is Columbus. We just moved from there and have some awesome Christian friends who would be happy to help you out. We saw the eye specialists several times at Nationwide Chilren's. If this isn't where you'd have to go, you can just laugh at my asumption! :) Hopefully that will not be a trip you have to make!

We have a very humble place, but if you end up at Children's here in Columbus, Ohio, you are MORE THAN WELCOME HERE. FREE.
Praying for sweet Abby.
