Amazing Abby

From Michelle:

Looking back at the pictures we have taken of Abby since her intracranial pressure started soaring has reminded me once again what an incredible girl Abby is. Adults with this problem complain about massive migraine headaches, constant ringing in their ears, eye pressure and memory loss.

While Abby has had many moments when the pain has made her emotions hard to control, she has continued to enjoy being with her friends and family. Seeing my shy, quiet girl handle being on stage with the Governor of Oklahoma helping light the State Christmas tree with a smile on her face makes me so proud of her. Even though she said her head hurt, she was excited to be there and be on stage "like Hannah Montana".

Abby, Sami and Mickey with the Governor.
I guess we still have Make A Wish Jet Lag.

She was exhausted when it was over, shedding tears as we were driving away. Abby wants so much to get to be a normal kid but accomplishing that takes considerable grit and determination. Abby runs, laughs and plays like a big kid but needs more naps than a newborn baby.

Thank you so much for continuing to pray for Abby and for the adults in her life. Researching how to help Abby has been wrenching. There are things that might help her, but doing them will mean major surgery and shaving her hair again. The surgeries are serious but have the potential to lower the pressure, save her sight and prevent more brain damage.

No decisions have been made yet. We are still searching and praying for guidance. Abby's doctor took off some of the extra fluid yesterday and we will know in a couple of days if the pressure comes back.

Please pray for wisdom for us and her doctors, that we will be able to get a second opinion and that we will be able to find a doctor that can follow up with Abby, who is closer to our home.

Please pray for Abby's comfort and for protection from permanent brain and eye damage.

Michelle - beautiful post!

Looking at her sweet little face and smile this morning brought tears to my eyes! Oh how I long to see her healed and free of pain. I think of all the things this trial has taught you all and us who have followed along praying ever step of the way.

Count it all joy...keeps coming to my mind.

Come to me and have faith of a child.

Abby does them both so well!

Oh His grace is enough and may it surround you all now in a powerful way as you make these tough decisions for her care!

I love you all!
Jill

What a beautiful little girl - her smile sparkles and shines. God has blessed her with a unique spirit that we all can learn from. We continue to keep her in our prayers - and you too as you search for answers. May God Bless you as you enjoy this special season of Jesus' birth.

What wonderful photos!!! Abby's precious smile is incredible camoflauge for what is going on behind that smile, I tear up just at that thought. We prayed for all of you Monday as we drove down and were so close to your house.Prayed that Abby was having a successful and as stress-less, painless of a day as possible . The girls thought about her a lot as we watched out guys' basketball team play the Moore guys..AND WIN!!! We wished we could have been sharing that fun with Y'all..or that we could have been able to visit for a bit somewhere in between. As I think of Abby's increased intracranial pressure, I am so painfully reminded that our Daniel has lived with this...all those symptoms+ for almost two years, with no hope of seeing a doctor for help, IF "that government" won't sign his release docs so we can go get him. Spending much time in prayer for both of our sweeties with their issues and senidng BIG HUGS to all of you from all of us
love
Linda

Michelle,

I love the pictures, but more than that I love Abby's sheer determination to seize life to the fullest. I feel that she has learned that through you and Brent. She has that "never give up" attitude that has gotten her through many critical times.

You and Brent have depended on God for your faith and guidance so far in Abby's fight against the "monster" and you will continue to do so. The battle may not be over, but God will be standing there with you as you find and decide what you need to do for Abby.

Yes, Abby's hair has grown so much and is so dark and beautiful, but then she was beautiful when she didn't have hair. Hair will grow back again if your decisions lead in that direction. The main thing is to relieve the pressure and pain that Abby is in right now before any permanent damage is done.

God's children are so amazing. To look at Abby and see that beautiful smile after all she has been through and is going through now is definitely a miracle from God. I don't know of many adults that could still smile like that if faced with Abby's trials.

I will continue to pray for God's healing for Abby and for you and Brent as you come to a sense of peace with the decisions you make for her.

love and prayers...

I started following your blog recently around the time Abby was doing much better and not during any of her near death experiences. I'm am glad of this as it makes me feel like I'm am drawn to hear from your family for more that just drama. Please know that am thinking and praying for Abby.

I shared Landis' latest funny with my family around the table last night. It was just too good, I can just picture it. My youngest sister is the dramatic goofball of our family.

I love these photos.

I thought of Abby yesterday when I had a migraine myself. I took some aspirin and went to bed hoping it would go away. I thought of Abby and how brave she is to endure what she does with the strength she has. I got up and carried on my evening out with the family, praying for Abby as we watched and listened to the Ambassadors of Harmony sing the Christmas songs.
