How is Abby doing? Hmm... it is complicated. The simple answer is she was still pretty tired most of the day and had moments were she was grumpy but there were also moments when she smiled and played. After her blood transfusion she even laughed and danced.
Abby's bone marrow is wore out and confused. We want to suppress it some because that is necessary to destroy the remaining cancer cells but if her immune system is too low Abby won't be able to fight even simple infections. We want to give every bit of chemo we can without making her so weak an infection would take her from us. We normally find that balance by adjusting her chemo dosages. Unfortunately, it looks like the medication we are giving Abby to lower her intracranial pressure is doing a number on her bone marrow too. Abby's white blood cells count is dropping fast and her red blood cells are so low she needed a blood transfusion today.
It appears that the medication is beginning to keep her pressures down but if it keeps Abby's bone marrow so weak that she can't take her chemo, we will have a big problem.
Abby's chest xray showed some slight changes in her upper airway that may be from a bacterial infection. She is now on a third IV antibiotic. I am hoping that this clears up some of Abby's breathing problems.
Abby has decided watching Pooh videos 30 times in a row will be the perfect cure for all that ails her. She has surrounded herself with all things Pooh. It would drive me absolutely batty if it didn't make her smile. Abby is spending her day watching Winnie the Pooh and I am spending my days watching Abby. It is the perfect way to spend a day if you ask me.
Thank you for continuing to pray for Abby.

Abby is still in my prayers. As are You and Brent.
My thoughts and prayers are with little Abbey and your family. How strong she is. All of you are. God has a plan. It is so hard not to question during times like this but may faith get you through.
Praying for your precious little Abby ~
I didn't realize you've suffered the loss of a daughter, I'm so sorry. I wish I had those perfect words of wisdom for you. All I can tell you is that I will continue to pray for Abby that the Lord heals her little body and that you continue to find strength in Him.

oh, my heart goes out to you all. As an ICU nurse, I have taken care of children like Abby, and I know the day in and out struggles and battles that you face. Isaiah 40:31 - I will be praying for strength for you all and smiles to lighten your load.

I appreciate so much how you and Brent keep us updated on Abby. I'm a Winnie the Pooh fan myself, so I'm with Abby on all things Pooh! I am still praying for all of you. Hugs and best wishes for everyone.
Your comment about Pooh made me laugh...we have had moments where we contemplated hiding every DVD of specific shows :). We continue to pray for Abby's complete healing. Your guys are in our thoughts and prayers.
In my signature I have "sanity is over-rated", but it is nice sometimes, isn't it :)

My heart breaks with you, not only when i am online and read or see pics from your blog, but all the time, Abby stays on my heart and in my prayers. Please God bring relief to this baby girl, wrap her in your arms, and give her family the strength and understanding they desperately need. Praying, praying, all the time.
If watching Pooh helps Abby feel better, I say watch it 50 times. I'm praying for your little girl Michelle and also for you and Brent.
blessings,
Debbie
It sounds so trite to say that I continue to pray for sweet Abby and your entire family--but I am. When one part of the Body hurts we all hurt. At least that is the way God designed for us to function.
Praying that this suffering gives way to healing and that in the meantime you'll be surrounded by His perfect peace.
Pooh can do magic... :)
Im so sorry she is continuing to hurt so much. Its so frustrating, and makes a parent feel so darn helpless.
I too was unaware of the story of Katie. Wow... My heart just grew yet another piece for your entire family.
Continuing to pray...
Your precious little one is in my prayers always. And you all have a small package that will go in the mail this afternoon, with some things I hope you can use for the kids. I'll send more soon. The weather is getting nicer so garage sales will start up again. Please post updated sizes soon... I know they grow like weeds ;-)
Michelle, how sweetly you put it..."Abby spends her day watching Winnie the Pooh while you spend the day watching Abby." Now there's a mother for you! You are a Champion of a mother, Michelle! And, Brent a Champion of a father!
Hard to see a small child in a hospital bed. Praying for a miracle for your Abby!
Give her a hug from Bobbie Bailey, okay? :)
In Jesus love
Praying for your family and sweet Abby girl and all who are caring for her.
