Trina, Asa, Abby & Garrett

From Michelle:

Months ago I introduced you to a beautiful young woman, Trina. Trina is battling cancer for the second time. She has a four year son who wants his mommy, a wonderful family and many friends. Trina needs a miracle. Would you pray for Trina and her family. I know they would love to know you are praying. Please stop by their blog here:

Abby Update

Abby's oncology appointment
yesterday went as fairly smoothly but the test results were not what we had hoped for. Abby was a little teary and emotional but wouldn't admit to having a headache. My mommy radar was on high alert, and I had I sneaking suspicion that Abby's "I'm fine" was nowhere close to fine. I don't know if it is Abby's age, the fact that she has been fighting cancer since she was 3, or the fact that she rarely has good days to compare the bad ones to but Abby almost never complains of pain until she is in a crisis. She has never once complained where we didn't find an obviously painful problem.

During the spinal, Abby's intracranial pressure was 27, only 3 days after her last spinal. Normal is 8-14. They drained off some of the excess, but because it was a chemo day, they had to inject 10 mls of chemo filled fluid back into her spinal column. The relief Abby felt after the procedure was short lived as the fluid quickly rose to painful levels. The kicker is since Abby's spinal fluid has chemo in it, we need it to stay in there as long as possible.

I'm weary of watching my baby hurt. I let her sleep as long as she needed to (about 18 hours total yesterday) and then gathered her up and took her to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. It was cold outside, a school night and late but I didn't care, I just wanted to see her smile.

Answered prayers:

It usually takes 6-9 months to get a new patient appointment with a pediatric specialist. After only working a few weeks Abby's oncologist got her an appointment with a neurologist and ENT (ears/nose/throat). Between Garrett's and Abby's appointments we will be busy for a while but it is wonderful to finally get some answers. If they can't help Abby then I will take her to Ohio. Thank you for praying.

Garrett should be home on Saturday. I am so proud of him for working hard and having such a great attitude. He has a lot of healing to do so we would appreciate your continued prayers.

Continued prayers for your brave little Abby. So thankful to learn that Garrett will be discharged soon. He'll have much healing to take place but so much better to be at home.

I will be praying for your family and your friend.
I'm so sorry you have had to watch your sweet girl suffer as I'm also sorry for her suffering.
I think you are doing a great job. To read that you took her to the movies just to make her smile...makes me smile.

Not sure exactly where in Ohio you're speaking of...lots of great hospitals in the Buckeye State... but if it's Cincinnati, please let me know! GO BENGALS!!! :) Seriously... I've got a guest room and a little pink bedroom full of toys for my girl when she gets here... you and Abby would be very welcome to stay at my place if you ever need to!
