From Michelle:
Abby was admitted to the surgery floor of our hospital. The Oncology floor feels like a second home, this place is a foreign land. We crave familiar things even more when we are under stress. Hopefully they will move us to the "right" floor soon.
Abby's lungs are still terribly congested and she is constantly coughing. A pulmonary consult has been ordered for the morning. Our favorite lung doctor is out of the country and Abby needs help soon.
When Abby was in surgery the doctor was able to get sputum samples and did a biopsy. The sample is already growing cooties. Not surprising but not what her oncologist was hoping for. While I am faithfully praying for healing, I knew green snot was not a good thing. Abby's doctors have watched her go through so much. In a way it is sweet how hard they are searching for a easier to treat diagnosis.
For now it is just a waiting game. It is impossible to treat Abby's cancer, intracranial hypertension, asthma and her new "lung problem" in the ways that they normally would. Routine medications for one problem make the other problems worse.
Thank you for your prayers and encouraging messages. I was tired today but knowing so many were praying helped me feel peaceful in the midst of this trial. You are such a blessing to our family.
Abby is finally awake. I can't wait to read her your messages.

Abby,
You are so brave! My name is Mindy and I have been praying for you from where I live here in Maryland. I check in here daily to see how you are doing and see what prayer needs your family might have. I want you to know that even though we have never met I love you and hope that everything gets better very soon.
You are always on my mind, sweet girl. The photos that your mom and dad post just make me smile!
Stay strong Abby..you can do it!
Mindy
Oh Michelle, we are praying for you and Abby and your family. I still remember meeting you and baby Abby for the first time at the LaButti's while we were still waiting for Henry. You all have been in our hearts and prayers for a while now, and our Sunday School class has been praying as well. I wish I knew the right things to say, but I don't, but I do know that there is a God who is in control of all of this and He isn't troubled by any of these tests or new issues and that He holds Abby in the palm of His hand. I'm asking for His complete healing for Abby, and I am so thankful that she (and your whole amazing family as well) has touched so many lives, including ours. We'll continue praying for you all and for peace in the midst of this battle. Lots of love from Tulsa, Valerie
Hey Abby. Get better soon. We are praying for you and hoping that you get to go home soon & sleep in your own bed instead of that hospital bed. Sending you our love and prayers.

Oh precious Abby! I love you so much, and you know that. It's horrible being sick, but on top of everything that you have to go through, it's worst. I'm praying for you, Garret, and your entire family. I know how tough of a time this is for y'all, and I know you've heard this many times before, but, I'm praying for you and stay strong!!! Every time I read something like this my stumach churns and my heart feels like it's slowly cracking down the middle. I just want you to know that I have not pushed you to the bottom of my prayer list and forgotten you, you are an inspiration to me. I love you sweet baby girl!

Brave seems like an understatement. Abby, you endure things on a daily basis that strike fear in the core of me. You are a strong little girl, stronger than most adult women I know. You have an old soul that I long to know more. You are sweet, special and beautiful! We continue to pray for your complete and total healing, for the doctors wisdom and for peace and comfort for you and your family. Stay strong sweet girl! We love you so much!
Hi Abby,
Your smile brings a smile to my face every time I see a picture of you. Your dad sure takes a lot of good pictures of you and your brother(s).
I've been wanting to tell you that I really liked the art work you did for that special event. You and your sister Hannah looked so lovely in your dresses and what fun being driven in a limo!
Well it's very late here in Connecticut so I have to get to sleep. I'll check in on you in the morning. Tell your mom and dad we love them and we are praying for all of you.

It's Laurel & the gang. We so enjoyed meeting you when we were on our Road Trip last September.

Big Hugs for your Mama, too,

Hey Abby,
Hannah says, "Hi!" We are all sorry that you have to be in the hospital. We are praying that you will get better quickly and get to go home soon.
We will be coming to Oklahoma for a little while this summer when we move from Germany back to Ohio. We hope that you and Hannah will get a chance to play together.
Hannah wants to go ride a pony, but she has never seen a real pony. She has heard that there are ponies in Oklahoma. Do you like ponies?
We are praying for you. We are so glad that our God is powerful! Hannah like to sing the song about how big and how mighty God is. I bet you have some songs to sing too.
We love you, Abby!!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, and I wish I could come see you. Maybe soon.

Good morning! We pray for you every day,for all of you. Even though they have never met you, my Sunday School class kiddos pray for you Abby and for your family too. Naomi and Rachel just wish we lived closer to you so we could visit with you more. We are trusting God with you right now Michelle and Brent for Abby's present and her future. I see God being glorified through your lives in all that He has called you to go through and I praise Him for the strength He has given you in all that. We have not stopped praying that God would heal Abby completely and totally from every misbehaving cell and organ. Sending big hugs to each of you from each one of us (could take a while to pass out!)

Michelle and Brent,
As I was reading this post, Brooklyn (my 4 1/2 year old) walked up to my desk and said... oh Mama that's Abby.. how is she? is she in the hospital? When I told Brook that Abby was in the hospital and not feeling well... she was SO sad.. and we decided to pray right then... so just know Abby that Brooklyn (and Bailey) love you and that we are trusting Jesus to touch you today!
All our love and hugs,
Brooklyn and Lanetta (and Bailey)
We love you, Abby!! Stay strong sweet girl!

Dear Abby,
I wanted you to know that my girls and I are praying for you all the way from New Orleans! You remind me so much of my two girls, Isabella and Lucia, with your sweet smile, dark hair and gorgeous brown eyes.
Isabella wants to be a doctor one day so that she can help children and Lucia wants to be a Princess, not a Prince, a PRINCESS!!
We are praying for a speedy recovery and maybe one day you can make a trip down to New Orleans and eat a beignet! It looks like a square doughnut and is covered with powdered sugar. Yummy!
Keep smiling, sweet girl!

Abby, I had to say one more thing after reading what other people have said to you...I MUST agree that you have endured so many things that cause us grown adults to tremble in fear..and you handle it all so BRAVELY. Maybe we can coin a new term "ABBILY" that means BEYOND BRAVE!!!!!! :)
I love you
Michelle Mann(Olivia's Mom)
I know I've said this before and will say it again...we are praying, pleading, and petitioning God on behalf of Abby and your family. Much love in Christ....
I have been following Abby's journey for quite some time now but have not posted, until now.
Even being as ill as she is, she is so beautiful. She has such love in her face and a sparkle in her eye. She is truly a gift from God.
I am praying for that precious child and I know that nothing is impossible with God. Many blessings to you and your family.
Abby,
You are such a brave, strong, amazing young lady! We are praying for you!

I actually used to work at OUHSC in the dept of surgery (before I went to Chesapeake), and know what amazing surgeons you are dealing with. Praying for each of the doctors as they take care of sweet Abby.
Again, I'm happy to help in any way I can...just let me know! In the meantime, we are praying for you all...

Abby and your soldiers ...
You are one incredible family and you are facing the cancer battle with such love, determination, grace and strength. You are a smiling inspiration to so many. My children all ask about you and we pray for you each night. As we celebrate Jesus' death and resurrection we will pray that He will be with you and your family - that He will bless you abundantly and remove pain, fear and discomfort. We will continue to pray that the "great physician" will guide your doctors to answers that will free you from pain and cancer!
God Bless you - We love you -
Juli and all from Missouri!
MIchelle, Brent and family,
my heart quite literally aches for all of you right now. I am praying for God's healing hand on Abby -- praying that your kind drs will find a "better" explanation for the mucous in her lungs. Praying for another Easter miracle.
On a lighter note, please tell Abby that I absolutely LOVE her in her new glasses (saw the pic). She looks gorgeous in them!
Please know that there are SO many of us out here that are lifting you all up in prayer.
Dear B*e*a*u*t*i*f*u*l Abby,
I am sorry you are back in the hospital and not feeling well. My children and I are praying that your doctors will get you feeling much better so you can go home. You are such a brave, beautiful, darling little child of God. I know He loves you so much and will give you all the strength you need to get better. Hugs and kisses from Atlanta to you!!!!!
Michelle and Brent,
I know this has to be so difficult for you all. So many decisions to make and all at the same time it seems.
You can tell in Abby's picture that she isn't feeling well at all. Her beautiful eyes aren't beaming like she has been some weeks ago. It just doesn't seem "fair" that one little girl has to endure so much.
Will continue to pray for Abby, the doctors and for all of you. Tell Abby that I am loving her hair and it seemed to grow back so fast. Tell her to keep doing what the doctors and nurses tell her to do and make sure she knows that so many people are loving her and praying for her.
love and prayers

PLEASE ask your doctors (whichever you have the most confidence in, whoever seems to know the most & is the most cautious) if the apnea could be caused by the IH.
eventually, without a shunt, fluid build-up around the brain not only destroys your vision, but in someone whose skull is closed (meaning they aren't an infant) the fluid eventually crushes the brain, brain stem, etc., and i know you said she can't have a shunt right now.
i only bring this up because you said they were talking about possible brain damage - as someone with IH myself, i know that some symptoms look EXACTLY like brain damage but resolve when the fluid - and the pressure on the brain once it is no longer being crushed - is removed.
praying for all of you, your doctors, and especially your little fighter.
